We sequenced the small RNA repertoire and mRNA from different life stages of the ground squirrel to identify how the PIWI/piRNA system responds to the lack of mobilizing transposable elements. For comparison, we also sequenced the small RNAs and mRNAs from the testis of one juvenile and one adult European rabbit.
